Wednesday, Nov. 13, at 7:47am; a victim in the 1400 block of East Washington Street awoke to discover that his 2022 GMC Terrian vehicle had been stolen. Video surveillance indicated that the vehicle was stolen at 3:41am. The victim made contacted with OnStar and requested that the vehicle be disabled. OnStar provided the Officer with a location and the vehicle was located in the 1000 block of SE 23rd Street. The victim was notified and arrived to discover that a $175-dollar pink Nintendo Switch handheld gaming system was missing from the vehicle. An Auto Theft Force Detective will continue investigating.
Wednesday, Nov. 13, at 11:28am; a Paris Officer responded to the 2500 block of Bonham Street in reference to a welfare concern and made contact with 59-yearold Derwin Lee Tarver. Dispatch confirmed Tarver had outstanding warrants.
Tarver was arrested and taken into custody for Felony-Parole Warrant-Burglary Habitual X2 and two Class “C” Paris Municipal Court Warrants, totaling $897 dollars for Possession Drug Paraphernalia and Fail to Appear. Tarver was booked into the Paris Jail.
Wednesday, Nov. 13, at 9:20pm; Paris Officers responded to the 1000 block of Polk Street to assist Paris EMS. A complainant stated that a male had just walked into her residence covered with burns and the odor of gasoline. Arriving officers observed the male lying on the floor, with substantial burns on large portions of his body, and detected the strong odor of gasoline. The complainant provided surveillance camera footage, showing a large flame come from the backyard of a residence, across the street and then showed the male making his way to her residence. It appeared that the male had been across the street, in the back yard, cleaning up and burning piles of leaves when the incident occurred. The male was care-flighted, and an “Open Fire” report was taken.
