Paris Police responded to an assault in the 1500 block of W Cherry St at 7:21 A.M. on May 6, 2022. A 9 year old victim reported that a 58 year old man that is living in a trailer on the property, had threatened to stab the victim and their dogs. The incident is under investigation.
Paris Police spoke with a complainant via telephone about a theft of a vehicle at 11:03 A.M. on May 6, 2022. The victim reported that they could not locate their vehicle. The officer told the victim that his fiancé had been arrested while driving the vehicle on April 24, 2022. The officer contacted the person that the vehicle was released to at the time of the arrest and they advised that someone had stolen the vehicle from their driveway. The incident is under investigation.
Paris Police responded to a disturbance in the 2600 block of N Main St at 3:42 P.M. on May 6, 2022. The 66 year old victim reported that her husband was very intoxicated and wanted the keys to their vehicle. When the victim refused to give the keys to him, he shoved her down. The victim reported that during the altercation, a 10 year old child attempted to keep the suspect from assaulting the victim and the suspect hit the child in the face. The suspect fled the scene before the officers arrived. The investigation continues.
At 4:09 P.M. on May 6, 2022, Paris Police spoke with a victim of an assault that had occurred in the 300 block of SE 8th St. The 21 year old victim reported that her mother had shoved her down during an argument and the shove caused her and her 2 year old child to fall to the floor. No one was injured in the assault. The investigation continues.
Paris Police responded to a burglary of a residence in the 3700 block of Pine Mill Rd at 4:23 P.M. on May 6, 2022. The victim reported that someone had kicked their back door open to gain access to the residence while they were away from the residence for the past few days. The victim reported that two large flat screen televisions and possibly some jewelry were missing from the residence. The incident is under investigation.
Paris Police stopped a vehicle in the 100 block of Pine Bluff St at 7:16 P.M. on May 6, 2022 for an expired registration violation. The driver, 44 year old Thomas Ray Moten, of Paris, was found to have several outstanding Municipal Court warrants. Moten was arrested and once in the jail, Moten was found to be in possession of less than 2 ounces of marijuana. Moten was additionally charged with possession of a prohibited substance in a correctional facility. Moten was placed in the city jail and is awaiting transfer to the Lamar County Jail.
Paris Police stopped a moped in the 2300 block of N Main St at 11:25 P.M. on May 6, 2022 for failing to drive in a single lane of traffic. The Moped was travelling approximately 10 miles per hour and drove off of the roadway and onto a sidewalk. The driver, 44 year old Rodrick Tyrell Rose, of Paris, was found to be in possession of methamphetamine, cocaine, prescription pills that he did not have a prescription to possess, and marijuana. Rose was also found to be in possession of a set of digital scales. Rose was charged with three counts of manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance, one count of possession of a dangerous drug, and possession of marijuana. Rose was later placed in the Lamar County Jail.
Paris Police observed a female walking on the wrong side of the roadway in the 200 block of NE 13th St at 2:36 A.M. on May 7, 2022. 49 year old Brandi Godwin Fletcher, of Paris, was found to be in possession of methamphetamine. She also was found to have outstanding misdemeanor warrants. Fletcher was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance. She was placed in the city jail awaiting transfer to the Lamar County Jail.
Paris Police received a report of a possible intoxicated driver in the 5200 block of Lamar Ave at 10:30 A.M. on May 7, 2022. The caller reported that a yellow box truck was driving all over the roadway and had struck some vehicles while approaching the city limits of Paris. When the officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the vehicle sped up and passed vehicles on the shoulder and the left lane of the roadway. The officers pursued the vehicle westbound on highway 82 and was able to get it stopped in the 8400 block of State Hwy 82 West. The driver, 36 year old Jason Lenard Kirksey, of Dallas, was arrested and charged with evading arrest or detention with a vehicle. Kirksey was later transferred to the Lamar County Jail.
At 3:26 P.M. on May 8, 2022, Paris Police responded to a burglary of a habitation that had just occurred in the 800 block of N Collegiate Dr. The victim reported that while he was in his back yard, he observed a small black Nissan vehicle pull into the parking lot next door to his residence. He observed a male person exit the vehicle and walk along a wooden privacy fence towards his residence. Before the victim could get to the front of his residence, the male had entered the garage and had stolen a Stihl chainsaw. The victim attempted to follow the suspect vehicle but could not locate it. The investigation continues.
Paris Police responded to 265 calls for service and arrested 16 persons over the weekend ending at midnight on May 8, 2022.
