At 11:27 A.M. on May 3, 2022, Paris Police met with the victim of a theft that occurred in the 10 block of W Washington St. The victim reported that someone had stolen their 2013 red Chevy Cruz while they were out of town. The investigation continues.
Paris Police stopped a vehicle in the 1700 block of Bonham St at 3:31 P.M. on May 3, 2022 for a defective brake light. The driver, 46 year old Cedric James Moffitt, of Roxton, Texas, told the officer that he had a pistol in the vehicle and was a convicted felon. Moffitt was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon along with displaying a fictitious registration and two Municipal Court warrants. Moffitt was booked and is awaiting transfer to the Lamar County Jail.
Paris Police stopped a vehicle in the 2400 block of Highland Rd at 8:53 P.M. on May 3, 2022 for displaying an expired registration. A passenger in the vehicle, identified as 47 year old Shellee Rena Strickland, of Paris, was found to have an outstanding felony warrant out of Montague Cuonty charging her with possession of a controlled substance. Strickland was arrested, booked, and later transferred to the Lamar County Jail.
At 10:15 P.M. on May 4, 2022, Paris Police stopped a vehicle in the 600 block of Crockett Circle for speeding. The driver, 26 year old Kentavious Tavar Espinoza, of Paris, was found to be in possession of more than 4 ounces of marijuana. He was also found to have a felony warrant out of Lamar County charging him with credit card or debit card abuse along with two misdemeanor Lamar County warrants charging him with fail to identify and resisting arrest. Espinoza was arrested and later transferred to the Lamar County Jail.
Paris Police stopped a vehicle in the 700 block of Graham St at 10:52 P.M. on May 3, 2022 for failing to give a signal while making a left turn. The officer smelled the odor of marijuana emitting from inside the vehicle. The driver, 20 year old Erin Nichol Pokorski, of Paris, admitted to smoking marijuana earlier in the evening while in the vehicle. Pokorski told the officer that there was a pistol underneath the passenger seat. During the arrest, Pokorski was found to be in possession of a baggie of THC/Marijuana gummies. Pokorski was charged with unlawful carrying a weapon and possession of more than 4 grams of a controlled substance. Pokorski was later placed in the Lamar County Jail.
At 12:03 A.M. on May 4, 2022, Paris Police were dispatched to a possible intoxicated driver driving eastbound on NW Loop 286. Officers located the vehicle in the 2800 block of NE Loop and observed it to change lanes without using a signal. The driver, 47 year old Broderick Jermaine Sims, of Paris, was found to be intoxicated. During the arrest, Sims was found to have at least three prior DWI convictions. Sims was then charged with driving while intoxicated – 3rd or more. Sims was later transferred to the Lamar County Jail.
Paris Police responded to 73 calls for service and arrested 8 persons on May 3, 2022.
