On Friday, May 17 at 6:53am; Paris Officers were dispatched to a Disturbance in the 1900 block of East Booth and made contact with 41-Year-Old Denetra Nicole Edwards. Edwards was checked and returned wanted on an outstanding Felony Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon Warrant resulting from an earlier incident in February where Edwards had broken a glass beer bottle and cut her girlfriend in the back of the head and lower back area with a piece of the broken glass. Edwards was booked into the Paris Jail.
On Friday, May 17 at 10:17am; a store attendant of a convenience store in the 2500 block of North Main Street told Paris Officers that a black male walked into the store, made his way to the beer cooler, grabbed two 24 packs of Bud Light and walked out without paying. Officers viewed the video surveillance and observed the subject exit the store and enter into a white Buick. A photo in the police system was matched to the identity of the vehicle’s registered owner. The subject’s criminal history has two prior theft convictions. A Felony report of Theft Property <$2,500 2/more Previous Convictions will be forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office for a
warrant.
On Friday, May 17 at 10:36am; a victim stated to a Community Service Officer that after she made a purchase in the 600 block of Bonham Street that she had apparently dropped her debit card. A few hours later, her financial institution notified her of her account being overdrawn. Four unauthorized charges had been made. A Felony Fraud Possession Use Credit or Debit Card report was taken and an identified person of interest will be investigate
On Saturday, May 18 at 9:50am; a Paris Officer responded to the 1300 block of NE 26th Street and spoke with a victim, who stated that his firearm had been stolen from his unlocked truck. A $500 black CZ P-10 9mm pistol with one magazine inside was stolen from its holster, from inside the vehicle. The pistol was entered in the National and State database as stolen.
On Sunday, May 19 at 11:37am; a Disturbance was reported at a motel in the 3500 block of North East Loop 286. Arriving Paris Officer made contact with a victim, who stated that she had had an argument with her boyfriend and that he had attacked her and choked her. The officer observed marks/bruising around the victim’s neck below the jaw line. The suspect had left the area and was unable to be located. A Felony Assault Family-House Member Impede Breath will be further investigated.
On Sunday, May 19 at 8:22pm; a driver granted a Paris Officer consent to search the vehicle after a traffic stop was initiated for a defective brake light in the 300 block of Bonham Street. A backseat passenger, identified by a Texas Department of Criminal Justice Inmate card gave consent to a search of his white bag, which was placed on top of the vehicle, at which time the subject fled from the back of the vehicle on foot. The officer pursued the subject on foot, while giving verbal commands “to stop”. The officer lost sight of the subject and terminated the pursuit after the subject jumped a fence on Grand Avenue. Back at the scene, bags of a crystal-like substance, determined to be Meth were located inside his white bag. A warrant will be sought for Felony Manufacture Delivery Control Substance and Class “A” Evading Arrest Detention. The driver and a second passenger were released from the scene with a vehicle violation warning.
On Sunday, May 19 at 1:24pm; a Paris Sergeant was patrolling in the 2300 block of East Cherry Street and observed 35-Year-Old Thomas Dale Wells, who the Sergeant had been looking for while investigating a burglary of a coin operated machine. Contact was made and during a consensual search of Wells’ belongings, 6 different mail and personal identifying items with
different names, none with Wells, were located. Wells was arrested and booked into the Paris Jail for Felony Fraud Use Possession Identifying Information.
On Monday, May 20 at 3:25am; an Iver Johnson single shot 12 GA with dark brown stock and rust on the barrel, valued at $100 was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 200 block of SW 31st Street.
Friday, May 17 through Sunday, May 19; Paris Police Department responded to 229 Calls for Service, Made 10 Adult Arrest and Initiated 26 Traffic Stops.
