On Mar. 26 at 1:10 a.m., an early morning traffic stop for a vehicle equipment violation in the 3400 block of Lamar Avenue resulted in the arrest of Kevin Delano Lockett (57). Lockett was a passenger in the vehicle and was observed to be making furtive movements as the officer approached the vehicle. Lockett volunteered his identification to the officer, who checked for local warrants. Lockett was found to be wanted on several misdemeanor traffic warrants. During a pat down of Lockett’s outer clothing, a round of .38 caliber ammunition was located in his pocket. The driver of the vehicle consented to a search of the vehicle and a .38 special revolver was located beneath the seat which had been occupied by Lockett. Both Lockett and the driver denied knowledge of the handgun. Since Lockett was seen making movements in the vehicle and was in possession of ammunition fitting the handgun, he was charged with it’s possession. It was found that Lockett was a convicted felon.. He was charged as a felon in possession.
