On June 6, Mystie Joyce Smith (26) was arrested on a Parole Violation warrant in the 2500 block of W. Austin St. Smith was taken into custody without incident and taken to Lamar County Jail.
On June 6, Officers responded to a disturbance call in the 200 block of W. Sherman. The victim advised her boyfriend had assaulted her by choking her and had then stolen her phone. She had retrieved another phone and called for help. Officers searched the premises for the suspect but he had fled the scene. Evidence was collected and the case is under investigation.
On June 7, an officer made contact with Theodore James Nickowski (38) in the 800 block of SE 18th. It was known that Nickowski had an outstanding warrant for Theft from a previous incident of “Porch Pirating”. Nickowski failed to identify himself to the officer, giving an assumed name, but was identified by a family member and then placed under arrest. He was taken to the Paris Police Department, where he was thoroughly searched. During the search, narcotics were located inside a plastic bag in Nickowski’s pants pocket. He denied ownership of the narcotics and furthermore, denied ownership of the pants he was wearing. Nickowski was booked on an additional charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance as well as the Theft.
Officers made 66 traffic stops, 9 adult arrest, and answered 284 calls for service for this reporting period.
