On June 18, Officers responded to the 200 block of NW 27th in regards to a burglary in progress. They were advised that a white male dressed in black had been caught in the area of a residence there. The suspect, later identified as Gerald Russel Bridgers (39) had not had a valid reason for being on the property and upon being confronted by a neighbor had eventually left the area. Officers located Bridgers in the area and ordered him to stop. Bridgers, while in plain view of the officer, took a syringe from his pocket and dumped the contents on the ground. He then complied with the officers commands and was detained. A warrant check revealed that Bridgers had an outstanding Parole Warrant for which he was arrested. The residue in the syringe tested positive for methamphetamine. Bridgers was also charged with tampering with physical evidence. He was booked without incident.
On June 18, Officers were notified of a Burglary of Residence in the 10 block of NW 13th. The victim had an ex spouse checking on the welfare of the family dog at the residence while she was out of town. The suspect (known) used the access to the residence to illegally take two large cabinets, a gun safe, and jewelry, all without the permission of the victim. The suspect has not lived in the residence in over five years and had no rights to the property. The investigation is ongoing.
On June 18, Officers responded to an assault in progress in the 1100 block of Meadowlark Ln. They met a 70 year old victim who advised that an adult family member, later identified as Heath Jared Smallwood (40) had assaulted them by throwing items at them, shoving them and slamming their arms in a door. Witnesses at the scene advised they had both heard and witnessed the assaults. Smallwood refused to exit the residence and barricaded the door to prevent officers entry. Officers eventually made entry to the residence and placed Smallwood under arrest. Smallwood had to be physically forced to the patrol vehicle as he resisted arrest. He also made threats towards the family member causing them to fear for their life. He was charged with Injury to the elderly, Terroristic Threat to a Family Member, and Resisting Arrest. An emergency protective order was requested on behalf of the victim. Smallwood was booked without further issue.
On June 19, Officers arrested Casey Leigh Foreman (41) after being called to the 3800 block of Clarksville St in regards to a theft. Foreman had been caught shoplifting at a business at that address and after being detained, a search of his person revealed narcotics in his pocket. Foreman was charged with Possession of a controlled Substance and misdemeanor Theft. He was booked without incident.
On June 19, Blake Michael Weathers (23) was arrested on an outstanding warrant for Indecent Exposure. The arrest stemmed from an incident occurring in March 2025 in which Weathers was witnessed by a victim exposing his genitals several times to a female in a local business in the 3800 block of Lamar. Through video evidence an investigation it was confirmed that Weathers was the suspect, a warrant for his arrest was obtained resulting in this arrest. He was booked without incident.
Officers made 43 traffic stops, 15 adult arrest, and answered 228 calls for service for this reporting period.
