On July 8, Officers worked a Property Damage report in the 300 block of SE 32nd. They made contact with two subjects, Devin Nathaniel Murray (41) and Robert William Applegate (59). Both subjects were found to have outstanding warrants, Applegate was wanted out of Fannin County on a Theft over $2500.00 and under $30,000.00. Murray was wanted out of Lamar County on a Bond Surrender Warrant for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon. Both were arrested and transferred to Lamar County Jail.
On July 8, Officer responded to an address in the 500 block of SE 13th and made contact with Dottidra Shambrika Grigsby (35) and a female juvenile. Grigsby was found to be wanted on numerous warrants. Grigsby was placed under arrest on the warrants and the juvenile was released to a family member. During transport, Grigsby was observed squirming around in the rear seat of the patrol car and was believed to be attempting to destroy or remove possible evidence from her clothing. She was resecured as well as possible in the patrol unit and transported to the police department. Once at the department she was advised she woud be searched by female personnel and at that time produced narcotics which tested positive as cocaine from her underclothes. She was charged with her municipal warrants as well as Possession of Cocaine.
On July 9, Officers stopped a vehicle for driving with no headlights in the 3500 block of Lamar. The vehicle was searched with the owner’s consent and vapes were located in the vehicle. Since the driver was under 21, the vapes were illegal. A firearm which was found to be stolen out of Angelina County was also located. The driver was charged with Driving without headlights and arrested. The investigation continues on the stolen firearm.
On July 9, Officers observed a vehicle stopped in the middle of the 2500 block of Clarksville with several subjects loading items into the vehicle. When officers checked they located three individuals. The driver of the vehicle stated she only knew one of the subjects and was just giving them a ride. One of the individuals, Jedidiah Caleb Rater (40) was found to be in possession of prescription narcotics in a medicine bottle. The prescription label on the bottle was not in the name of Rater. Rater could not give a plausible explanation as to why he had the narcotics. He was charged with Possession of a dangerous drug and placed under arrest.
On July 10, Officers responded to a shots fired call in the 2500 block of Lamar Avenue. The victim advised he had been outside on the parking lot when a subject in a green colored Dodge Charger had fired a firearm at him. The victim could provide no further information. A locals check revealed that the victim had outstanding misdemeanor warrants and so he was arrested. During the arrest the victim confirmed that he was carrying a concealed weapon. The weapon, a firearm, was released to the victim’s mother. No further evidence was collected at this time although the investigation will continue.
Officers made 50 traffic stops, 10 adult arrest, and answered 197 calls for service during this reporting period.
