On July 8, Officers responded to a property damage report in the 300 block of SE 32nd Street. The caller informed officers that a known subject, who was also on the scene, had damaged some of his property. While gathering information about the property damage, it was determined that both parties had outstanding warrants for their arrest. Deven Nathaniel Murray (41) was arrested on a Lamar County warrant for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, and Robert William Applegate (59) was arrested on a warrant from Fannin County for Theft over $2,500 and under $30,000.
On July 8, a call to 911 resulted in an officer performing a security check in the 500 block of SE 13th Street. The officer met with the caller, Dottidra Shambrika Grigsby (35), and a minor. Grigsby was found to have outstanding warrants from the Paris Municipal Court and was placed under arrest. Grigsby was later found to have possession of a narcotic and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance less than 1 gram, a State Jail Felony.
On July 8, Police took a call regarding fraud in the 100 block of SE 13th Street. The victim reported to an officer that their wallet had been lost or stolen, but was unable to provide an accurate timeframe of the incident. The victim stated that multiple online transactions, totaling over $500, had been made using his bank card. The bank had already been notified by the time of the call, and officers entered a fraud report, which will be investigated further.
On July 9, An officer initiated a traffic stop in the 3400 block of Lamar Avenue. When asked, the driver stated that there was a pistol in the vehicle and permitted officers to search the vehicle. Officers located the pistol, and a serial number search indicated the handgun was reported stolen out of Angelina County, Texas. The recovered stolen firearm was entered into evidence at the Paris Police Department.
