On July 25, Officers conducted a search warrant in the 2400 block of Ridgeview Road and located Trinden Nehemiah George (18) of Paris. George was arrested on an outstanding warrant for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. This arrest stemmed from an incident on July 16th 2025 in which George assaulted and threatened a family member with a firearm at the same address as the arrest. George was transported to the Police Department for booking.
On July 25, Officers received a report of a Burglary of a Vehicle in the 1400 block of E. Washington. A suspect entered the victim’s vehicle at approximately 0320 on that date and stole a handgun and a cell phone from the vehicle. The suspect was caught on video committing the crime. The incident is under investigation.
On July 26, Officers received information of a Stabbing in the 400 block of Bonham St. They were eventually able to locate the victim at Paris Regional Hospital. The victim would not cooperate with the investigation and would not tell who had assaulted him. Witness were contacted but due to victim’s lack of cooperation the incident is pending at this time.
On July 26, Officers responded to a call of a fight in progress in the 1900 block of W. Kaufman St. Officers contacted a suspect, Xeryus Arianna Bright (26) as officers spoke with Bright, seeking to establish her identity, her handbag was located in the street in front of the house. A warrant check revealed that Bright had four outstanding city misdemeanor warrants and Bright was detained on those incidents. Bright gave consent for a search of the purse. While searching the purse, officers located illegal narcotics stored in a container along with Bright’s identification. Bright was subsequently charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and booked on the warrants as well as the felony charge. All subjects at the residence denied that any fight had taken place.
On July 26, Officers made contact with Alisha Chonte Cashion (36) in the 200 block of NE 20th. . a warrant check revealed that Cashion, AKA Alisha Waddle, had numerous warrants including Possession of a Controlled Substance, Bail Jumping / Fail to Appear, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Cashion was arrested and booked without incident.
On July 26, a Theft of a Vehicle was reported in the 3100 block of NE Loop 286. The victim had left the keys in their vehicle and the vehicle had been stolen. Officers later located the vehicle in the 2400 block of N. Main and were able to take the suspect who had taken the vehicle into custody. Inside the vehicle officers located Methamphetamine, Drug Paraphernalia, and a handgun. The suspect, Dakota Lane Tippit (25), was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.
On July 26, Officers responded to the area of the 2800 block of NE Loop 286 in regards to a subject jumping into traffic at approximately 02:54AM. Upon arrival they observed the subject, identified as David James Waymire (33), in the area. They found Waymire to be exhibiting signs of intoxication and to be next to a motorcycle which had been laid down in the ditch. Waymire was handled for suspected DWI and given field sobriety test. Upon establishing that he was intoxicated, Waymire was handcuffed. During being escorted to the patrol unit, Waymire fled the officer on foot. Officers pursued Waymire and eventually were forced to use a Conducted Energy Device “ Taser” to take him back into custody. Waymire was charged with DWI 3rd or More, a Felony, and Evading Arrest or Detention with previous conviction, also a Felony. He was medically cleared for injuries sustained during the arrest, had mandatory blood drawn, and was booked without further incident.
On July 27, Officers received a report of an Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle and an Assault. They met the victim who advised that she was driving a friend’s vehicle to the store. On the way home she had stopped at a red light when the owner of the vehicle’s mother approached her, dragged her from the vehicle and then drove away in the vehicle. The owner of the vehicle had been on the phone with the victim when the incident occurred and confirmed her story. Contact was made with the suspect who confirmed that she had taken the vehicle but denied any physical contact. The case is under investigation.
On July 27, Officers responded to a disturbance call in the 100 block of 21st SE where they met a victim who told them that he had been in an argument with a family member, Donta Marice Clayton (52). During the argument, Clayton produced a shotgun, pointed it at the victim’s feet, and fired one shot. The victim stated that had he not struck the barrel the shot would have struck him. The victim had taken the firearm away from Clayton and hidden it then called police. Officers investigated the incident and recovered the firearm. Clayton was arrested for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon on a Family Member, a felony. Clayton was also charged with two misdemeanor warrants. The firearm and other items were collected as evidence and an emergency protective order was obtained for the victim.
On July 27, Officers stopped a vehicle driven by Anna Marrie Flores (41) in the 10 block of Stone Avenue for a defective light. As officers made contact with Flores, they observed a prescription medicine bottle in the back seat area of her vehicle. Flores presented the bottle which contained prescription narcotics which Flores had not prescription for. Flores was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance. She was booked and transported to Lamar County Jail without incident.
On July 27, officers stopped a vehicle for equipment violations in the 900 block of NW 19th. They met Carlton Jamiel Hicks (20) Hicks vehicle smelled of marijuana and he was detained while the vehicle was searched. Hicks was found in possession of Marijuana and Paraphernalia as well as a THC Vape pen. Hicks was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance as well as Possession of Marijuana. He was booked without incident.
On July 27, Officers responded to the 3800 block of Lamar in regards to a welfare concern. They located Mathew John McMullen (35) and found him to be severely intoxicated to the point of being a danger to himself and others. McMullen was arrested and charged with Public Intoxication. It was determined that McMullen had three prior convictions for Public Intoxication so the charge was enhanced to a Class B Misdemeanor. He was transferred to Lamar County.
On July 27, Officers contacted Craig Wayne Vanderburg (58) in the 1200 block of W. Houston. Upon recognizing officers, Vanderburg, who was riding a bicycle, began attempting to evade detection. He was located in the 200 block of NE 13th, an area known for high instances of drug use, and stopped for riding on the wrong side of the roadway. Officers noted that Vanderburg was nervous and then observed drug paraphernalia used for narcotics use protruding from his pocket. They detained and performed a pat down on Vanderburg which netted more paraphernalia as well as illegal narcotics. He was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance and booked without incident.
Officers made 41 traffic stops, 18 adult arrest, and answered 319 calls for service during this reporting period.
