Paris Police arrested John Wesley Neal, 28, of Paris, on a parole violation warrant at 7:03 P.M. on July 8, 2022. Neal was stopped due to the vehicle that he was driving displayed an expired registration sticker. Neal was later placed in the Lamar County Jail.
Paris Police responded to a shoplifter in the 3100 block of NE Loop 286 at 9:02 A.M. on July 9, 2022. Officers met with store personnel who had Ricky Earl Barnett, 64, of Blossom, Texas, detained. Witnesses reported that they observed Barnett conceal items in his pockets and then push a buggy with other merchandise out the doors without paying for any of the items. During the arrest, Barnett was found to be in possession of more than 1 gram of methamphetamine. Barnett was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and theft of property of less than $2,500 with 2 or more previous theft convictions. Barnett was booked and transferred to the Lamar County Jail.
