On Jan. 6 a shoplifting incident at 1310 Clarksville St. brought officers into contact with Melissa Renee Smith (37). Smith was detained outside the store and admitted to having stolen several items which she produced from her purse. A pat down of Smith’s person located a small pouch in her front pocked which contained methamphetamine in syringes. A warrant check revealed that Smith has outstanding municipal warrants as well. She was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance; Theft under 100.00; and the municipal traffic offenses. Smith was transported an booked without incident.
On Jan. 7 an officer observed Jerry Wayne Watts (27) while Watts was at a business in the 2600 block of Lamar Avenue. The officer recognized Watts to be wanted on a warrant for a Bond Surrender on Assault Family Violence /Impeding Breath, a Felony. Watts left the Lamar Avenue location in a vehicle before he could be contacted and the officer attempted to stop Watts in the 300 block of NE 25th . Watts failed to pull his vehicle over or to yield to the officers lights and siren. Watts was finally stopped in the 2400 block of Ridgeview. He was arrested for the Felony warrant as well as being charged with on view Evading Arrest or Detention in a Vehicle, a Felony. He was booked without further incident.
