On Jan. 5, Officers investigated a Burglary of Habitation in the 800 block of SE 20th. A suspect, had entered the victim’s residence without permission by breaking a door glass and then opening the locked door. Suspect then stole several pairs of shoes and an IPad. The victim advised that she believed she knew who the suspect was and provided information to the same. A report was taken, evidence was collected and the investigation is ongoing.
On Jan. 6, An early morning traffic stop in the 400 block of NW 5th street resulted in the arrest of Christopher Dewayne Woods (55) of Paris. Woods was stopped for defective vehicle equipment. Upon making contact, the officer noticed that Woods displayed unsteady balance. The officer could smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from Woods breath. A warrant check revealed Woods to have an outstanding warrant for Criminal Mischief over $750.00. Woods was placed under arrest. Officers observed an open container of beer in Woods’ vehicle as well as a bag of marijuana. A subsequent search of the vehicle located further open beer containers as well as a quantity of cocaine. Woods was taken to a local medical facility where blood was drawn for a DWI investigation. He was ultimately charged with Driving While Intoxicated 2nd offense, Possession of Marijuana under 2 ounces, Possession of Controlled Substance, and the warrant previously mentioned for Criminal Mischief. He was booked, transported, and then placed in county jail without incident.
Officers made 21 traffic stops, 6 adult arrest, and answered 91 calls for service during this reporting period.
