Paris Police responded to a burglary of a residence in the 500 block of NW 3rd St at 6:09 A.M. on January 3, 2023. The victim reported that a window on the south side to the residence was pried open to gain access. The victim reported that a go-cart and stereo speakers were missing. The incident is under investigation.
Paris Police responded to a forgery call in the 1300 block of Clarksville St at 9:53 A.M. on January 3, 2023. The manager of the business reported that someone had used the company’s bank account to pay a cell phone bill for the past 3 months. The investigation continues.
At 10:58 A.M. on January 3, 2023, Paris Police responded to a burglary of a business in the 300 block of E Hickory St. The victim reported that someone had broken the glass out of the front door to gain access. The only item reported to be missing was less than $20 from the cash register. The incident is under investigation. Shonson Marcel Smith, 50, of Lamar County, was arrested at the Paris District Parole Office on a parole violation warrant at 12:54 P.M. on January 3, 2023. Smith is currently on parole for a Lamar County conviction of indecency with a child by contact. Smith was booked and later transferred to the Lamar County Jail.
Paris Police stopped a vehicle at 11:58 P.M. on January 3, 2023 in the 2800 block of Briarwood for failing to dim the high beam lights while meeting an oncoming vehicle. During the stop, the driver, 33 year old Robert Ray Newman, of Paris, was found to be in possession of less than one gram of methamphetamine. Newman was arrested and later transferred to the Lamar County Jail.
Paris Police responded to 85 calls for service and arrested 8 persons on January 3, 2023.
