On Jan. 21 at 3:03 p.m., a traffic stop brought officers into contact with Jakobe Embry (25). Embry was found to be wanted on a warrant for Sexual assault of a Child. This charge stemmed from a reported offence on October 24, 2023. Embry was arrested without incident.
On Jan. 21 at 10:58 p.m., an officer stopped Jacobo Gamez (25) in the 10 block of SE 13th for traffic violations. Gamez was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia. A subsequent search located methamphetamine in his vehicle. Gamez was taken into custody without incident.
On Jan. 22 at 1:55 a.m., Jerry Marshall Lehman (33) was stopped for driving the wrong way in the 300 block of Bonham St. Lehman was given field sobriety test and was found to be intoxicated. He was arrested without incident and charged with Driving While Intoxicated. A passenger in the vehicle with Lehman, Ryan Benjamin Bannon was found to have an outstanding parole warrant for Intimidation. He was taken into custody on the felony warrant. Both were booked without incident.
On Jan. 2- at 2:51 a.m., officers responded to a reported accident in the 800 block of W. Campbell St. Witnesses reported that a vehicle had struck a utility pole, causing a power outage in the area, and then left the scene heading East. The vehicle was described as a 4 door dark colored vehicle with significant front end damage. As the officer was enroute to the call, he observed a vehicle matching that description at the intersection of Fitzhugh Avenue and Tudor Street. He initiated a stop on the vehicle in the 900 block of Tudor St. As the officer stepped from his vehicle, the suspect attempted to flee the scene, driving off in the vehicle. A short pursuit ensued which ended in the 600 block of 20th NE. Upon stopping, the suspect, Kanisha Sharda Perkins (33) exited the vehicle. Perkins was found to be heavily intoxicated. She was arrested and charged with Evading Arrest/Detention in a vehicle, Fail to Stop after striking a structure in the highway, and DWI. Perkins was found to have numerous other city traffic warrants for misdemeanor offenses.
On Jan. 21 at 11:40 p.m., officers responded to an accident at S. Church and Washington. A vehicle had struck a stop sign. The officer made contact with Shakisha Danielle Smith (41) who admitted to having been drinking and driving. Smith was taken into custody for DWI. Smith refused to perform any field sobriety test and so a search warrant for her blood was obtained and she was taken to Paris Regional for a non consent blood draw. At the medical facility, Smith struggled with officers, attempting to kick and strike them during the procedure. She was restrained by officers and the blood draw was performed. Smith was charged with DWI and Resisting Arrest.
On Jan. 21 at 1:42 a.m., officers stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of N Main for weaving across multiple lanes. They made contact with the driver, Michael Dylan Worden (28) who was found to be intoxicated. Worden was arrested and charged with DWI. A warrant for his blood was obtained. At the hospital, Worden attempted to leave the room when blood was to be drawn. He then resisted officers and had to be restrained during he blood draw. He was also charged with Resisting Arrest. He was later booked without incident.
On Jan. 21 at 2:56 p.m., a report of criminal mischief was taken in the 1500 block of Lamar Avenue. A victim reported that a known suspect had broken out the window of his vehicle with a pry bar. The victim was reluctant to give information on the incident, but did provide video of a subject whom he claimed he knew, breaking the window. The officer attempted to make contact with the suspect but was unsuccessful. Investigation continues.
