On Jan. 9, Officers were notified of a Burglary of Vehicle in the 1200 block of Clarksville St. The victim had left his vehicle unlocked and when he returned discovered his handgun had been stolen. The firearm was entered as stolen in Nationwide Data Base. The investigation continues.
On Jan. 9, Officers arrested Jearmey Dean Morgan (38) on an outstanding warrant for Continuous Violence Against the Family, a Felony, in the 600 block of NW 11th. Morgan was located hiding in a closet of the residence. The arrest stemmed from an incident in December of 2025 in which Morgan assaulted a female family member twice in the same day. Morgan was taken into custody, cleared medically, and then booked without further incident. He was taken to county jail.
On Jan. 10, Officers arrested James Vanard Booth (59) of Paris on an outstanding warrant for Theft of Materials (Copper,Brass, Aluminum) after making contact with him in the 600 block of NW 7th. Booth was booked and taken to jail without incident.
On Jan. 10, Officers responded to an incident in the 3400 block of N. Main in which a suspect stole firearms, tools, and electronics from the victim’s vehicle and shop building. The victim advised that the truck and building were both unlocked and that a witness had spoken with the suspect. Evidence was collected and the incident is under investigation.
On Jan. 10, Officers responded to a disturbance in the 1900 block of NE 38th St. They were advised that Richard Christian Simble (31) had threatened a family member with a hammer then fled the scene when officers were notified. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate Simble. Approximately 2 hours later, Simble was located in the 600 block of Sugar Hill Rd. by Lamar County Deputies. Simble was detained and upon Paris Police Officers making contact with him, was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. He was transported to the city jail, booked, and then taken to county jail.
On Jan. 10, Officers of the North East Auto Theft Task Force were notified that officers of the McCurtain County Oklahoma Sheriff’s Office were searching for James Carlos Urena (24). Urena had been involved in the burglary of a school in Idabel Oklahoma and had evaded in a vehicle, entering Texas on January 9, 2026. On 01/10, Task Force Officers located Urena in the vehicle in the 1700 block of N. Main St. at an apartment complex. Officers took Urena into custody and found him to be in possession of property stolen from the school in question. He was also in possession of stolen identification and checks from other entities. The vehicle Urena was driving was found to be stolen from a dealership in Idabel Oklahoma. Urena was found to be in possession of marijuana. He was charged with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Fraudulent Use of Identifying Information, and Possession of Marijuana. He was held at Paris Police Department for questioning.
On Jan. 11, Darnell Mayfield (65) was arrested in the 800 block of NE 8th after being stopped for a misdemeanor offense. During the arrest, Mayfield refused to remove his hands from his jacket pockets. After he was secured, Mayfield was found to be in possession of cocaine and paraphernalia commonly used for the consumption of the narcotic. Mayfield was also charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance.
Officers made 58 traffic stops, 12 adult arrest, and answered 277 calls for service during this reporting period.
