On Feb. 20, Officers responded to a motor vehicle accident with injury in the 3300 block of Lamar. Upon arrival they made contact with Derek Garland Lamb (54) who had been driving one of the vehicles in the accident. Lamb exhibited apparently minor injuries. After officers detected the smell of an alcoholic beverage coming from Lamb and his vehicle, he was placed under arrest for DWI. Lamb was taken to a medical facility for a blood draw but refused any other treatment. He was booked and placed in jail. While in jail, Lamb was also arrested on an active warrant for Indecent Assault stemming from an incident reported in July of 2025 when he was alleged to have made unwanted sexual contact with a female victim. Lamb was transferred to Lamar County Jail.
On Feb. 21, Officers arrested Stephen Ray Douglas (65) on a charge of Driving While Intoxicated 3rd or More after receiving a call of a subject being unconscious behind the wheel of his vehicle at a drive through window in the 2400 block of N. Main. Davis was located asleep in his vehicle in the drive through lane. Upon contact he was found to be intoxicated. Davis was later found to have two previous convictions for DWI. Davis was booked and taken to county jail.
On Feb. 21, an officer stopped a vehicle for no registration sticker in the 1600 block of Pine Bluff. He made contact with Gary Wayne Jones (49) of Paris. Jones was found to have an outstanding warrant for Motion to Revoke Probation on a Possession of Controlled Substance charge. Jones was arrested, booked, and taken to county jail.
On Feb. 22, an officer stopped a vehicle with expired registration in the 1700 block of Pine bluff St. When the officer made contact with the driver he could smell marijuana odor coming from the vehicle. He also observed a marijuana cigar in the ashtray. He requested the driver’s license and insurance and asked the driver about the smell. The driver, later identified as Marco Demon Perkins (43) immediately became irate and refused to give any identifying information. The officer took Perkins into custody for refusing to give identifying information. Perkins refused to walk to the patrol unit and had to be carried to the vehicle. A post arrest search of Perkins’ vehicle located marijuana in the ashtray as well as methamphetamine under the seat. Perkins was charged with Possession of Controlled Substance and Failure to Identify as well as the Traffic Offense. He was booked and placed in jail.
On Feb. 22, Officers were notified of an assault which had occurred in the 4700 block of SE Loop 286. The 19 year old female victim advised that the suspect, Jordan Dekel Williams (20) had assaulted her by kicking her in the stomach, dragging her by her hair, beating her head against the floor and choking her with his hands and arms. The victim said the incident happened when Williams was accusing her of infidelity. The victim had obvious physical injuries consistent with the allegations. The victim advised that she had been in the hospital several times in the past year for similar assaults by Williams. Officers attempted to contact Williams at his residence but made no contact. Williams later came to the department to meet with officers and was arrested and charged with Continuous Violence Against the Family, a Felony. He was booked and transported to county jail.
On Feb. 23, Officers responded to an assault call in the 300 block of NE 17th. They made contact with a 40 year old victim who advised that she had been assaulted by her boyfriend, Douglas L. Davis Jr. (40), of Harker Heights Texas. The victim advised she had been arguing with Davis about another woman and he became angry and choked her with both hands, causing her to be unable to breathe. Davis had also attempted to smother the victim in her pillow. The assault was witnessed by the victim’s 17 year old daughter. Davis was arrested and charged with Assault with Breath Impediment to a Family member, a Felony. He was booked and taken to county jail.
Officers made 69 traffic stops, 12 adult arrest, and answered 277 calls for service during this reporting period.
