On Feb. 21, the Criminal Investigations Division of the Paris Police Dept. arrested Cheri Elaine Maxfield (50) after investigation of a theft case which was reported in the 500 block of N. Main St. Maxfield was accused of embezzlement from a workplace over the past several years. At the current time the amount of theft is in excess of 150K. The investigation will continue.
On Feb. 21 at 10:00 a.m., an officer made a traffic stop in the 2300 block of Simpson St for a seatbelt violation. Open alcoholic beverage containers were observed in the vehicle. A subsequent search revealed that a passenger in the vehicle, Aaron Michael Bridges (18) was in possession of a cannabis vape device. Bridges was arrested and charged with Possession of Controlled Substance.
On Feb. 21, the department received a report of a disturbance in the 3800 block of Lamar Avenue at a retail store. The officer responding made contact with Iyanna Marie Pierce (33) Pierce was found to be wanted out of Arkansas for Smuggling Prohibited Items into a Correctional Facility, a Felony. She was arrested on the charge and transferred to the Lamar County Jail.
On Feb. 21, the firearm which had been reported lost/stolen from the Maxey Gun Club on February 19th was turned in to the department by the individuals who had located it at the location of the loss. Case is closed.
On Feb. 21, Officer was dispatched to the Probation office in the 4300 block of Bonham St. He arrested Ray Joise Smith (40) on an outstanding warrant for Motion to Adjudicate Guilt on a previous charge of Terroristic Threat to Family Member or Household.
On Feb. 21 at 4:14 p.m., Jayla Nicole Bowman was arrested on an outstanding warrant from September 2023 for Assault Causes Bodily Injury in which Bowman assaulted 2 individuals in the 2500 of N. Main St, causing injury to at least one of the victims. Bowman was arrested without incident, booked and transported to the county.
On Feb. 21 at 4:23 p.m., a traffic stop brought officer into contact with an individual identifying herself as Bridget Badal (27) Badal was found to be wanted on a warrant from October of 2023 when Badal assaulted an employee of a local resturaunt after being terminated. Badal was booked for Assault Causing bodily Injury and taken to county.
Officers made 3 arrest for misdemeanor theft in the 3800 block of Wal Mart for the continued offense of customers/suspects skip scanning merchandise.
Officers made 22 traffic stops, 13 adult arrest, and answered 92 calls for service on for this reporting period February 20, 2024
