Paris Police stopped a vehicle in the 2000 block of E Cherry St at 10:56 A.M. on February 20, 2023 for a defective brake light violation. The passenger, 43 year old Shane Michael Crites, of Paris, was found to have an outstanding parole violation warrant. Crites was arrested and later transferred to the Lamar County Jail.
At 11:21 A.M. on February 20, 2023, Paris Police responded to a theft in the 500 block of Clarksville St. It was reported that black male, wearing all black clothing, had stolen multiple items by placing them in a yellow shopping bag and leaving the store. Officers located Jerry Lynn Young, 62, of Paris in the 300 block of Houston St. carrying the bag. Young was arrested and was later found to have multiple prior convictions for theft. This charge was then enhanced to a felony. Young was later transferred to the Lamar County Jail.
Paris Police responded to a disturbance in the 1200 block of SE 20th St at 11:35 A.M. on February 20, 2023. Officers observed a vehicle trying to back out of the driveway to leave the scene. The driver, 45 year old Lacarnley Hardy, of Paris, was found to be intoxicated and was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated. While being booked, it was found that Hardy had at least three prior convictions for driving while intoxicated so this charge was enhanced to a felony. Hardy was later transferred to the Lamar County Jail.
