On Feb. 17, Officers arrested Samantha Lue Hawthorn (38) in the 200 block of N. Main St. Officers were aware of Hawthorn having an active warrant for Kidnapping. Hawthorn was taken into custody and booked without incident. The arrest stemmed from a December 2025 incident in which Hawthorn took an eighteen month old child from the parent’s residence in the 2900 block of Clarksville St. without permission. Officers located Hawthorn and the child shortly thereafter and returned the uninjured child to the parent. Hawthorn remains in county jail at this time.
On Feb. 17, Officers responded to the 400 block of SE 14th St. Upon arrival an officer could hear a disturbance coming from the back yard. He looked through the fence and observed Misty Michelle Zornow (44) threatening a male subject with a garden hoe. The officer made contact with the two and ordered Zornow to put down the hoe. She discarded the hoe and then she and the victim attempted to enter the house together. The officer then took Zornow into custody. Follow up investigation revealed that Zornow had assaulted the victim multiple times over the past year, often using weapons such as a hammer, garden shears, a broom, and a rake. She was arrested and charged with Continuous Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon Habitual, a Felony.
On Feb. 17, an officer responded to 3400 block of Brownwood Drive in regards to a Burglary of Habitation. The victim advised the officer that she had arrived home that morning to find that someone had entered her residence and had stolen multiple items belonging to a deceased relative. Stolen items included jewelry, a wallet containing identification and credit cards, miscellaneous tools and several remotely operated helicopters. The victim named a possible suspect who has access to the residence and is familiar with family pets. The incident is under investigation.
Officers made 28 traffic stops, 5 adult arrest, and answered 83 calls for service during this reporting period.
