On Dec. 4 at 2:03 p.m., an officer stopped a vehicle for an expired registration in the 1000 block of Pine Bluff. Driver was identified as Joe William Acevedo (38). Acevedo was found to have a city traffic warrant for no insurance. He was arrested on the warrant. A subsequent inventory of Acevedo’s vehicle located Methamphetamine as well as prescription medications not prescribed to Acevedo. Acevedo was charged with Possession of Controlled Substance on two counts.
On Dec. 4 at 3:57 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 3000 block of NE Loop 286 in regards to a vehicle accident. It was found that a victim had been struck from the rear by a white van, which left the scene. The victim followed the vehicle to a medical center in the 3000 block of NE Loop and observed two subjects, a white male and a white female, flee the vehicle and enter the wooded area behind the facility. An officer located Joshua David Jones hiding in a creek inside the wooded area, took him into custody and returned him to the vehicle where he was positively identified as one of the individuals fleeing the scene. Another officer located the white female, identified as Gena Elaine Bustin (46) walking in the roadway in the 2000 block of N. Collegiate. Bustin admitted being in the accident and fleeing on foot. She was arrested for walking on the wrong side of the street and taken into custody. A subsequent search located a prescription medication not prescribed to Bustin in her personal property. She was charged with Possession of Controlled Substances and booked.
On Dec. 4 at 10:11 a.m., a Burglary of Motor Vehicle was reported in the 2600 block of W. Austin. Thieves entered the unlocked vehicle and took a handgun and ammunition and assorted tools from the victim’s vehicle.
