Friday, December 16, 2022 at 5:43am: Paris Police Officers responded to a Burglary of a Business in the 1200 block of SW 19th Street. The caller was observing a subject from a cellular game camera on the premises. Officers walked across a field beside the property and through a wooded area before locating a hole cut in a chain-link fence. A male subject wearing a camouflage jacket, camouflage mask, brown overalls, and black rubber boots was lying next to the cut fence. Two brown burlap sacks and a roll of cut copper welding leads were lying on the ground near the subject. 59-year-old Cecil Edward Handley Jr. of Powderly was identified and taken into custody for Burglary of a Building.
Friday, December 16, 2022 at 8:08am: Paris Police Officer was dispatched to a Family Disturbance in the 500 block of East Cherry Street. Upon officer’s arrival; Paris Fire Department was on scene treating a victim for a cut to her leg. Officer observed a very obvious blood trail leading through several room in the residence. An argument had started over household chores. An offense of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon is being further investigated.
Friday, December 16, 2022 at 9:08pm: Paris Police Officer initiated a traffic stop in the 100 block of East Hickory Street for expired registration. The driver was identified as 31- year-old Brandon M. Freeman of Paris and determined to have a felony warrant out of the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office for Manufacture Delivery Controlled Substance. Probable Cause to search the vehicle lead to three additional Possession of a Controlled Substance Charges. Freeman is also being investigated for Fraud Possession/Use Credit or Debit for being in possession of 15 credit/debit cards not belonging to him. Freeman was booked into the Paris City Jail.
Friday, December 16, 2022 at 11:01pm: Paris Police Officers were notified of a Maroon/Orange Chevrolet Silverado coming into the Paris city limits that was unable to maintain a single lane and could not manage the vehicle’s speed. The vehicle stopped in a parking lot in the 3200 block of North Main Street. The driver observed to have slurred speech and bloodshot eyes was identified as 39-year-old Steven Thomas Estep of Hugo. Estep was given the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and taken into custody and booked into the Paris Jail for Driving While Intoxicated 3rd Or More.
Sunday, December 18, 2022 at 4:39am: Paris Police Officer was dispatched to the 1600 block of West Kaufman Street for a disturbance in progress. Dispatch advised that an open 9-1-1 line with arguing had been received. Officer arrived on scene and observed a vehicle leaving the scene at a high rate of speed. Officer first activated the unit’s overhead emergency lights and later activated the siren as he pursued the vehicle for approximately five city blocks. 23-year-old Gabrielle Lynne McDowell of Paris was placed under arrest for Felony Evading Arrest/Detention With A Motor Vehicle when she finally came to a stop at her residence in the 2100 block of West Sherman Street. McDowell was booked into the Paris City Jail.
Sunday, December 18, 2022 at 1:18pm: Paris Police Officer conducted a traffic stop in the 400 block of Fitzhugh Avenue for fail to signal turn at an intersection. As contact was made with the driver, identified as 19-year-old Dathan Michael Zy Pepper of Tyler; a strong odor of marijuana was emitting from inside the vehicle. A Batman backpack containing = prepackaged bundles of marijuana lead to Pepper being charged with Possession of Marijuana less than-equal 5lbs. Pepper was booked into the Paris City Jail.
Sunday, December 18, 2022 at 6:36pm: Several Paris Police Officers were dispatched to a disturbance in the 100 block of South Main Street where the complainant stated that a black male was yelling at people, threatening to kill them. Homeless 46-year-old Reggie Lamont McCarty was located walking back and forth in the street yelling numerous expletives. McCarty was warned multiple times for his language. As Officers attempted to place McCarty in handcuffs for Disorderly Conduct and Public Intoxication; McCarty began to pull away and kicked one officer in the left thigh leading to two additional charges of Assault on a Public Servant and Resist Arrest Search or Transport. McCarty was transported to the Paris Jail where he continued to be combative.
Sunday, December 18, 2022 at 10:57pm: Paris Police Officer observed a vehicle operating with a defective brake light and initiated a stop in the 1100 block of SE 17th Street. Contact was made with driver, 41-year-old Amber Leann Kyle of Paris. During the course of the investigation, consent to search a black zip container lead to Kyle being arrested and charged with Possession of Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia for possessing clear baggies of methamphetamine and syringes. Kyle was booked into the Paris City Jail.
From Friday, December 16 through Sunday, December 18, 2022: The Paris Police Department responded to 186 calls for service and arrested 26 adult persons.
