Paris Police attempted to stop a vehicle in the 1900 block of E Price St at 8:38 A.M. on January 10, 2023 for not displaying a registration on the vehicle. The Ford Mustang accelerated and attempted to evade the officer. The chase ended in the 600 block of NE 13th St where the driver, identified as 34 year old Joshua Brett Galyon, of Paris, was arrested and charged with evading arrest or detention with a vehicle. Galyon was also found to have an outstanding felony Probation Violation warrant from a possession of a controlled substance charge. Galyon He was later transferred to the Lamar County Jail.
Xavier Ray Vasquez, 26, of Paris, was arrested at his residence in the 1700 block of E Cherry St on two warrants at 2:51 P.M. on January 10, 2023. One warrant charged Vasquez with burglary of a building and the other charged him with leaving the scene of an accident. During the arrest, officers observed methamphetamine and paraphernalia inside the residence. Cheryl Lee Feny, 55, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance of less than 1 gram. Both were booked and later placed in the Lamar County Jail.
At 4:14 P.M. on January 10, 2023, Paris Police responded to a burglary of a building in the 2700 block of E Cherry St. The renter of the storage unit reported that someone had stolen several items from the unit including televisions, and a washer and dryer. The unknown suspect(s) entered the unit by manipulating the locking mechanism. The incident is under investigation.
Paris Police responded and met with a victim of a burglary of a vehicle that had occurred in the 700 block of Pecan Court. The victim reported that someone had stolen a pistol from a backpack type bag that he had left in his vehicle overnight. The victim reported that he believes that he had locked the vehicle but was unsure. The incident is under investigation.
