On Aug. 7, Officers responded to the 800 block of Fitzhugh on a report that Anthony Eugene Barbaria (48), currently of Paris, was “Tasing” residents and threatening them with a hammer. Officers arrived and met two females in the yard one of whom identified herself as the victim stating that Barbaria had “Tased” her and struck her. She advised Barbaria was still in the residence. Officers made contact with Barbaria inside the residence and detained him. Once detained, a search of his person located narcotics, as well as paraphernalia used for the consumption of the same type of narcotics was located in Barbaria’s possession. Barbaria denied any physical contact with the victim. The victim then showed officers the weapons that had been allegedly used in a Barbaria’s bedroom. These included a homemade electrical discharge weapon, consisting of a battery, a switch, and some copper wires, as well as hammer. Barbaria was arrested for Aggravated Assault with a deadly weapon as well as possession of a controlled substance and transferred to the city jail.
On Aug. 7, Officers received a report in the 1100 block of NE Loop 286 of a Credit Card Abuse. Suspects came into the store in July and ordered ten welding machines for a total cost of over 50,000.00. The credit card company later denied the charges and refused to pay for the items. Officers obtained the suspects name and information and the case is under investigation.
Officers made 16 traffic stops, 2 adult arrest, and answered 125 calls for service during this reporting period.
