On Aug. 21, an Officer stopped a vehicle in the 1000 block of W. Houston for an expired registration. The officer made contact with the driver, Brian Marquis Shores (33), and a passenger. The officer smelled marijuana odor coming form the interior of the vehicle and questioned the driver. A warrant check revealed that Shores had two traffic warrants from the municipal court. Shores was asked to exit the vehicle. Upon his exit, a baggie of powder cocaine was observed in the seat of the vehicle and a glass pipe, commonly used for intake of cocaine was located in the vehicle’s console. Shores was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance as well as the traffic warrants.
On Aug. 21, a Paris Police Officer currently assigned to the NE Texas Auto Theft Task Force recovered a 2020 GMC pickup in the area of Idabel Oklahoma. The vehicle had a fictitious title as well as having the vehicle identification numbers removed and replaced with fictitious numbers. Through the investigation, it was discovered that the vehicle was stolen in June of 2024 in Dallas Texas. The vehicle was returned to the owner and the investigation is still ongoing.
Officers made 16 traffic stops, 1 adult arrest, and answered 87 calls for service for this reporting period.
