On Aug. 18, Officers responded a warrant arrest in the 600 block of SW 7th where they arrested Dalton Lane Melvin on a warrant out of Marion County Texas for Sexual Assault of a Child. Melvin was arrested without incident, booked, and transported to Lamar County Jail.
On Aug. 18, an apparent Road Rage incident starting in the 1700 block of Lamar Avenue and ending in the 3800 block of Lamar resulted in damage to the two vehicles involved and minor injuries to one of the involved parties. Allegations of the drivers cutting each other off in traffic resulted in the two vehicles colliding, first in the 3800 block of Lamar Avenue and then in the parking lot of WalMart. Both drivers were still on scene. Due to varying testimony neither subject was arrested at the scene and. The case is under investigation.
On Aug. 18, a report was received of a Burglary of a Habitation in the 500 block of SW 19th. The victim had just returned to his residence to discover that the house had been broken into. The front door had been kicked in and the suspect was still on scene. Officers arrived and observed the damage to the door and located Mychal Tyler Jones (34) asleep on the couch. Jones was taken into custody and found to be under the influence of some narcotic or substance. He appeared disoriented and showed physiological signs of narcotics abuse. Jones was charged with Criminal Trespass of a Habitation and Criminal Mischief. He was booked and taken to Lamar County Jail.
On Aug. 18, a report of Burglary of a Habitation was taken in the 500 block of SW 19th. The victim arrived home to find her back door had been forced open. The victim did not believe the suspect entered the residence. A large dog was kenneled next to the back door and the victim believes the dog frightened the suspect away. The victim did locate a soft drink can on her trash can. A neighbor advised that they had seen a subject with a six pack of the same brand of soft drinks in the area after the subject had walked up to her vehicle around 1330. The suspect description was obtained and evidence was collected. The case remains under investigation.
