On Apr. 9, Officers arrested Kaidence Rylee Alexis Abbott (17) and a juvenile after they were apprehended after shoplifting items at Wal-Mart and attempting to leave the store without paying. The two had concealed items in the juvenile subject’s bag. The total of the theft was over 100.00. Abbott was charged with Theft over 100.00 but under 750.00. Both Abbott and the juvenile were taken to the police department where they were booked. Abbott was taken to Lamar County Jail and the juvenile was released to a parent.
On Apr. 10, Officers arrested Otis D’Angelo Knight (37) after a call was received of a vehicle driving recklessly in the 3700 block of Lamar Ave. Officers located the vehicle traveling west on Lamar Avenue. The driver attempted to evade officers by making several turns but was followed to the 2700 block of Lamar, where the driver exited the vehicle, entered a store, and then exited the store in an attempt to evade arrest. He was located by another officer in the 2500 block of E. Price. The initial officer recognized Knight as being the driver of the vehicle. Knight was found to be intoxicated. Marijuana was also located in the vehicle. Knight was taken into custody and later a blood sample was obtained via a search warrant. Knight was found to have 2 previous convictions for DWI and was charged with DWI 3rd or more and Possession of Marijuana. Knight was confrontational and uncooperative throughout the arrest. He was taken directly to Lamar County Jail.
