Paris Police responded to a theft in the 1500 block of Clarksville St at 9:06 A.M. on February 1, 2022. The reporting person reported that an employee that had been recently terminated, had stolen several daily deposits totaling over $9,000. The incident is under investigation.
Paris Police stopped a vehicle in the 3000 block of Bonham St for a registration violation at 10:55 A.M. on April 1, 2022. After making contact with the driver, the driver fled from the officer in the vehicle. The officer pursuid the vehicle through the west part of Paris and then through Lamar County. The pursuit ended on State highway 24 near Cooper in Delta County. The driver, 20 year old Vernon Wilford Stanton, of Brookston, Texas, was arrested and charged with evading arrest or detention with a vehicle and possession of marijuana less than 2 ounces. He also received a citation for traffic violations that were observed during the pursuit. Stanton was later placed in the Lamar County Jail.
At 2:14 P.M. on April 1, 2022, Paris Police observed an occupied vehicle parked on a parking lot in the 2500 block of N Main St. The officer made contact with the driver of the vehicle and found that the vehicle had been reported as stolen in Denison, Texas earlier in the day. The officer arrested 28 year old Quiten Ray Manners, of Denison, Texas and charged him with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. During the arrest, Manners was found to be in possession of 110 grams of cocaine. Manners was additionally charged with manufacturing or delivering a controlled substance of more than 4 grams but less than 200 grams. He was later placed in the Lamar County Jail.
Paris Police responded to a burglary of a building in the 1100 block of SE 4th St at 1:41 P.M. on April 2, 2022. The person reporting the incident advised that someone had broken into the building in the past 12 to 16 hours. Two laptops, a Roku television streaming devise and a Nintendo Switch video game was reported as stolen. The incident is under investigation.
Paris Police responded to 188 calls for service and arrested 7 persons over the weekend ending at midnight on April 3, 2022.
