The Paris community is mourning the loss of Detective Manuel “Chris” Widner with the Paris Police Department after a long battle with COVID-19.
“It is with great sadness that the department announces the death of Detective Manuel “Chris” Widner. Detective Widner passed away as a result of complications from Covid-19 on the morning of August 22, 2021,” said the department in a press release.
Detective Widner began his career with the department on May 3, 2010, and served with distinction as a Patrol Officer and Detective. He was a member of the Department’s Honor Guard as well as a trained Hostage Negotiator.
“He was loved and admired by those who served with him and lived a life of service to the citizens of Paris. Please keep his family in your prayers during this difficult time.”

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Friday, August 27, 2021, in the East Paris Baptist Church.
Interment will follow in the Forest Chapel Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 till 8 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
