Paris Police release details surrounding body found on 42nd NE Street

At 10:50 a.m. Thursday morning Paris Police received a call regarding a suspected deceased person in the 500 block of 42nd NE Street.

A person mowing a yard in the vicinity was said to have seen a body lying on the ground in a small grove of trees on the property.

Officers arrived on scene and found the remains of a person.

“The body appeared to have been deceased for some time and is believed to be that of a male. Justice of the Peace Gene Hobbs pronounced the deceased at 12:16 pm and ordered an autopsy,” Police Chief Bob Hundley said.

“We do have a tentative identification on the person but will wait for the medical examiner’s office to confirm,” he continued.

Detectives have made contact with who they believe is a family member of the deceased.

From preliminary investigation at the scene, they do not feel the residents in the area should have concerns for their safety.

“We are not wanting to speculate anything until such time we have completed the investigation in full,” Hundley said, “there is no reason for residents to worry.”
