Paris Junior High is brimming with pride as two of its students, Amelia Elliot, a 7th grader, and Arshia Khadka, an 8th grader, have emerged victorious in the school’s annual Spelling Bee competition. The event witnessed fierce competition among nearly a dozen talented spellers from PJH.
The competition was a true test of vocabulary and composure, stretching over 25 intense rounds. Amelia and Arshia showcased their exceptional spelling skills with challenging words such as salvageable, meticulous, and aplomb. The climax of the competition came with the winning word, amoeba, which sealed their victory.
The success at Paris Junior High has opened the doors for Amelia and Arshia to represent their school at the Lamar County Spelling Bee. The event is scheduled for Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at 4:45 p.m. It will be held at the Weger Auditorium, where they will go head-to-head with top spellers from across the county.
