The Texas Rural Education Association announced Monday that Paris Independent School District counselor Andrea Irwin has been named the recipient of the inaugural 2026 TREA Counselor of the Year award.
“This prestigious honor recognizes outstanding dedication, compassion, and commitment to supporting students and strengthening rural education. Andrea Irwin’s leadership and positive impact on her students, campus, and school community exemplify the vital role counselors play in helping students succeed both academically and personally,” said the TREA.
Irwin will be recognized during the TREA OTY Awards Luncheon on Tuesday, June 16, at the 2026 TREA Annual Conference at the Kalahari Resort & Convention Center in Round Rock.
“Rural schools are built on relationships, service, and a deep commitment to students. These award recipients represent the very best of rural Texas education, and we are proud to celebrate the leaders, educators, and school communities making a difference every single day,” said Bill Tarleton, Executive Director, TREA.
