Paris ISD Superintendent Althea Dixon continues her commitment to student voice and leadership through the Paris Promise – Superintendent’s Student Advisory Committee (SSAC), an initiative she launched last year to strengthen communication between students and district leadership.
The SSAC is made up of students from eighth through twelfth grade, with four representatives from each grade level. Once selected, students remain on the committee through graduation, ensuring continuity and long-term student engagement in district discussions.
Throughout the school year, members meet with Mrs. Dixon and district administrators to share ideas, discuss student concerns, and provide feedback on issues that impact Paris ISD schools. Meetings are held in an informal, conversational setting that encourages open dialogue and collaboration.
Superintendent Dixon shared, “Hearing directly from our students allows us to make informed decisions that truly reflect their needs and experiences. The Paris Promise gives students a platform to express their perspectives and take an active role in shaping the future of our district.”
The first SSAC meeting of the 2025–2026 school year was recently held at Paris High School, where returning and newly selected members came together to set goals for the year and continue building on the foundation established last year.
Through the Paris Promise – Superintendent’s Student Advisory Committee, Paris ISD continues to prioritize student voice, leadership, and partnership—ensuring that every student knows their opinions matter and their ideas can inspire meaningful change.
