Paris ISD students filled the Weger Auditorium with the sounds of the season during the annual Choir Christmas Concert held last night. Choirs from Crockett Intermediate School, Paris Junior High School, and Paris High School each took the stage, showcasing their hard work, musical growth, and festive spirit.
The evening began with the Crockett 6th Grade Choir, directed by Stephanie Gann, who brought joyful energy to the stage with performances of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Carol of the Bells, and Last Christmas Baby. Their bright voices and confident delivery set a cheerful tone for the night.
The program continued with the Paris Junior High 7th and 8th Grade Choirs, under the direction of Christine Bennett, with accompaniment by collaborative pianist Rebekah Veien. Their set included a lively rendition of Sleigh Ride, a beautiful performance of O Little Town of Bethlehem by the girls’ choir, and an expressive a cappella version of In the Bleak Midwinter sung by the boys’ choir in the foyer. The group concluded with a fun and festive take on Santa Baby, earning enthusiastic applause from the audience.
Closing out the concert, the Paris High School Choir, directed by Lindsay McCarter and accompanied by collaborative pianist Leann Barbee, delivered an impressive and heartfelt finale. Their selections included Amen! Go Tell It on the Mountain; a moving performance of Breath of Heaven featuring a duet by Carly Farrell and Ellie Schmidt and a solo by Annistyn McCann; and an energetic arrangement of Underneath the Tree, highlighted by live accompaniment from Chloe Easton on bass and Kendall Henry on drums.
“Last night’s concert was a shining example of the talent, dedication, and teamwork of our students and directors,” expressed Superintendent Althea Dixon. “We are proud of the remarkable musical experiences our campuses provide and grateful for the community support that makes events like this possible.”
Paris ISD extends a heartfelt thank-you to all choir directors, collaborative pianists, student musicians, and families who helped make the evening a success. The district is proud to celebrate the arts and the incredible students who bring music to life each year.
