The City of Paris Animal Shelter will be closed until June 22 due to an animal control officer showing symptoms of COVID-19.
Paris Chief of Police Bob Hundley said the officer was tested and while the test came back negative, his symptoms indicate to his physician that it would be best for him to be off work for the next 14 days.
“Out of an abundance of caution, we have decided to close the shelter until Monday, June 22 or until new test results are available. Shelter personnel will continue to clean, take care of the facility and animals. The outside animal control operations will not be affected,” said Hundley.
A repeat test will be done in a couple of days.
