The Northeast Texas Auto Theft Task Force (NTATTF) is cautioning residents of buying vehicles online following the seizure of a Chevrolet Silverado found to be stolen out of Fort Worth.
While on routine patrol, investigators located a Chevrolet Silverado that had a suspicious registration history.
Upon further investigation, it was found the vehicle had an altered VIN and the true VIN was discovered to be stolen out of Fort Worth in 2024.
“It appears this will be another Facebook Marketplace purchase where the person in possession of the truck had no idea it was a stolen vehicle,” said investigators.
The truck was seized for further investigation.
“As we have repeated numerous times, be cautious purchasing vehicles through online marketplaces.”
