North Lamar senior Ava McMonigle signed to continue her musical journey with East Texas A&M University.
McMonigle will major in Music Performance while continuing her passion for band at the collegiate level.
“I’ve been in the North Lamar band program since 6th grade, and have loved it ever since,” said McMonigle. “It was not always easy, but it was worth it.”
McMonigle says her biggest influence has been her grandmother, Mimi, DiAnne Pruett, who has supported her every step of the way—from piano lessons to concerts and every performance in between.
One of her favorite memories at North Lamar is the feeling after marching performances.
“Hearing the roar of the crowd and feeling the joy and adrenaline. There is nothing better than that.”
She said her advice to younger students would be to “not stop and give up when things get tough. Strength and growth come from accepting the challenges and facing them.”
Ava also shared her appreciation for her family, directors, teachers, and friends who have supported her throughout her journey.
