The North Lamar Independent School District Board of Trustees approved an order calling a Voter-Approved Tax Rate Election (VATRE) for Tuesday, November 4, 2025.
If approved by voters, Proposition A would increase the district’s Maintenance & Operations (M&O) tax rate by $0.10 while decreasing the Interest & Sinking (I&S) tax rate by $0.10—resulting in the overall tax rate remaining the same as last year, $0.9169.
The shift in funding would generate approximately $2.3 million in additional annual revenue for North Lamar ISD. These funds would be used to:
-
Increase teacher and staff salaries
-
Address athletic, band, and CTE program needs
-
Technology needs
-
Facilities upkeep
-
Transportation needs
“Our district leadership team has spent countless hours assessing program needs, staff compensation, maintenance costs, and transportation needs. We have worked hard to be good stewards of taxpayer funds. Our students, teachers, and staff members are the heart of our district. If Proposition A is approved, the $2.3 million in additional funding would be beneficial in helping to address the district’s needs. Our hope is that our community will go to the polls and vote,” said Kelli Stewart, North Lamar ISD Superintendent.
Early voting for the November 4, 2025, election will take place October 20th through October 31st with Election Day set for Tuesday, November 4, 2025. All voting in Lamar County will occur at designated polling locations established by the Lamar County Elections Office.
