For its 65th year, the North American Aerospace Defense Command is underway with this year’s Santa Tracker.
As an important part of the program, NORAD’s Tracks Santa website, social media pages, mobile app and other platforms will help children around the globe track where Santa’s sleigh can be spotted come Christmas Eve into Christmas morning.
However, the call center is expected to be a bit different this year, due to COVID-19 concerns.
The call center this year will house only a small number of volunteers to answer the NORAD Tracks Santa toll-free number, 1-877-Hi-NORAD, on Christmas Eve. Those who are unable to connect to one of the volunteers will instead receive a recorded update on where Santa can be found.
Families will have to ability to track Santa using Amazon Alexa and even OnStar. NORAD will also post location updates on social media – Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram.
This year, NORAD has introduced its new locater app available on the Google Play and Apple App stores.
