Following weeks of warnings, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) confirmed via a notice on its website on Monday, that “there will be no benefits issued November 1.”
“Senate Democrats have now voted 12 times to not fund the food stamp program, also known as the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP),” the notice reads. “Bottom line, the well has run dry.”
The government has been shut down since Oct. 1 after lawmakers in Congress failed to agree on funding allocations for the 2026 fiscal year.
“We are approaching an inflection point for Senate Democrats. They can continue to hold out for healthcare for illegal aliens and gender mutilation procedures or reopen the governments so mothers, babies, and the most vulnerable among us can receive critical nutrition assistance.”
For all SNAP beneficiaries in any state, their EBT cards will still work in November. Any unused benefits from prior months will roll over and the balance will still be accessible after Nov. 1.
Those who typically rely on SNAP benefits are encouraged to reach out to local food banks and other subsidized meal programs during this time.
