Local law enforcement officials expunge ongoing rumors of shots fired Saturday night during the 111th Annual Red River Valley Fair.
“There was no shooting at the fair, nor were there any shots fired,” said Paris PD Assistant Chief Randy Tuttle. “However, there were several juveniles fighting.”
Lamar County Chief Deputy Tommy Moore said the fair was simply shut down early due to the continuous outbreaks of fighting.
As for the rumors of someone shooting a firearm or someone getting shot, Moore said, “No. That is completely false. Nothing like that happened. No shots were fired. (The ongoing fights) got to be so much they decided the safest thing to do for everybody was close it down and send everyone home.”
Those working security and fair board members decided it was best to shut down early for safety concerns.
