North Lamar High School is proud to announce that Aubrie Pence, a sophomore, has achieved the prestigious honor of being selected for the 2025 Texas All-State Choir. Aubrie earned 4th chair Alto in her area, a remarkable feat for any student, especially as a sophomore.
“Making the All-State Choir as a Sophomore is one of the biggest achievements I have made so far!” Aubrie shared. “It takes so much extra time and dedication to ascend to one of the highest levels of competition a Choir Student can achieve. It felt extraordinary, and I loved every step of the way—the laughter, tears, and EVEN the frustration! Every emotion you go through during the audition process can’t even compare to the excitement and how sweet it feels when you get that All-State ticket in your hand. That’s when you know you finally did it, and everything was worth it!”
Aubrie’s success is a result of her exceptional talent, dedication, and hard work throughout a competitive multi-level audition process that began at the District level, advanced through Region and Area, and culminated in her selection for All-State.
All-State is the highest honor a Texas music student can achieve, with only the top 2.6% of the approximately 70,000 students who begin the audition process earning a place in one of the TMEA All-State ensembles. Students selected for All-State have the opportunity to participate in four days of rehearsals directed by nationally recognized conductors during the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Clinic/Convention, held at the Henry B. González Convention Center in San Antonio. Aubrie’s All-State Choir performance will take place on Saturday, February 15, 2025, as part of the convention.
Founded in 1920, TMEA is a 20,400-member organization dedicated to supporting music education across Texas. All-State concerts and the TMEA Clinic/Convention are a celebration of the incredible talent and hard work of Texas student musicians.
