Freshman entering North Lamar High School in the fall will have an edge over others the first day of class by attending Panthers FIRST (Freshman Individually Responsible for their Success Today) orientation camp on Friday, August 2 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Students will meet in the high school gym to pick up schedules and receive a warm welcome by Principal Clay Scarborough. Sessions led in small groups by upper classmen will begin at 8:45 a.m.
Session topics include UIL academics, organizations and note taking skills, grades and late work policy, CATE 101, attendance, tardies and dress code, and computer, social media and cell phones. There will be pizza and prizes for all who attend.
The first day of classes at North Lamar will be Thursday, August 15.
School hours for Higgins Elementary, Everett Elementary and Bailey Intermediate will be from 7:50 a.m. to 3:20 p.m.; Aaron Parker Elementary – 7:55 a.m. – 3:15 p.m.; Stone Middle School – 7:45 a.m. – 3:25 p.m.; and NLHS – 7:50 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
All high school students must pick up a NEW colored class schedule in the ‘B’ gym on the first day of school beginning at 7:30 a.m.
