Mattie Merle VanHoose, 85, of Paris passed away Tuesday February 13, 2018 at Dubuis Hospital. Funeral services will be held at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home 2:00 p.m. Friday February 16 with Rev. Phil McKay officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday 6-7:30 p.m.
Mattie was born November 21, 1932 at Atlas a daughter of Marshall Henry and Winnie Elizabeth Kent. She was married to Noel B. Brown, Jr., who died in 1976 and later married Bob VanHoose. She was employed at Ayers Department Store for over 30 years and was a member of Ramseur Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands.
She is survived by a daughter Jan Brown and Ed Butterfield; sons Randy Brown and Kaye, Gary Brown and Amy; grandchildren, Jennifer Elrod and Lonnie, Julie Blount and Daniel, Stacey Freedman and Andy, Misty Proffer, Brent Brown and Rachael, Shannon Stephens and Paul, Brittany Dingman and Dacey, Christopher Brown, Cozy Brown, Sarah Brown, Henry Brown; great grandchildren Dani, Adyson and Olivia Blount, Luke Elrod, Marla Parsons, Blake Freedman, Hope, Faith and Trent Brown; Jacee Proffer, Ryan Johnson, Kendall Stephens, Spencer Dingman, Matt Baeza; great-great grandchild Conner Parsons; and a brother Marshall Henry Kent, Jr. and Wanda.
Pallbearers will be Lonnie Elrod, Daniel Blount, Luke Elrod, Paul Stephens, Henry Brown, and Brent Brown.
