Martha Tingle passed away peacefully in her sleep to be with the Lord on October 12. She was the dearest, kindest, sweetest person that any of us who knew her ever met. She lived a simple God-loving life and expressed that love through her devotion to her family and friends. She was a great listener and made herself available at any time for a heart-felt chat. One of her greatest gifts was her ability to support everyone in overcoming life challenges, saying “I know you can do it” often until you realized she was right, and you could overcome whatever obstacle was in your path. She laughed a lot, had joy for life, and never complained, even when she didn’t feel well. She was compassionate, forgiving and an extremely hard worker. She took amazing care of her husband, children and grandchildren and was actively involved in supporting whatever pursuits they were interested in. She was a very gifted quilter. She adored finding just the right patterns and spent many hours at quilt stores looking at all the different colors and textures of fabric to make the next masterpiece. She was an artist who had an eye for color, and her quilts always turned out beautiful and were admired by everyone. She lovingly gave most of her quilts to family and friends for special landmark life events such as graduations, birthdays, child births, and they were cherished by everyone who was fortunate enough to be a recipient of one of her special gifts. She also volunteered in a quilting group at church and passed her knowledge along to others to help the church group create beautiful quilts for people who needed them. Her passing was a moment of grief, joy and beauty all at once and she will be greatly missed, but now she is with the Lord eternally. Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Ray, her parents, James Adam Walker and Emma Ray Leatherwood Walker, along with 5 of her 6 siblings, including James Lee (Sonny), Lillie May (Sis), Henry Ray, Charles Edward (Dick), and Roy Dalton. She is survived by her two sons, Barry (Linda) Tingle and David (Karen) Tingle, two daughters Judy (Tommy) Davis and Pam (Micheal) Odum, her brother Billy Gene Walker and grandchildren including Lauren, Dillon, Robert, Krysta, Andrew, Carlo, Allison, and Anna, and great grandchildren Emma, Cale, Owen, and Hutch.
