Chisum ISD’s Kristen Parson will represent Chisum ISD in March at the 2022 State Capitol Exhibit in honor of the Texas Art Education Association’s Youth Art Month.
In 2021, Parson was selected as the congressional art competition winner for Texas’ Region 4. The winning artists are then invited to a reception in Washington D.C., however, several restrictions lead to the reception being held virtually. This virtual reception included a video that featured all the artworks on display.
In 2021, Parson’s oil painting, “Oreo and Luna,” was selected as the winner of Texas’ 4th Congressional District for the Artistic Discovery Competition.

About the Art Competition
The Congressional Institute is proud to sponsor “An Artistic Discovery,” the U.S. House of Representatives’ official art competition for high school students. Each year House Members may honor one high school student from their districts by selecting a piece of artwork for inclusion in an exhibit at the U.S. Capitol. Millions of visitors to the U.S. Capitol view this exhibit each year.
