Police arrested 24-year old Edgar James Bridgemon on Aug. 10, 2024, for Attempted Capital Murder after he admitted to giving a four-month old infant gasoline to drink with the intention of ending the child’s life.
Shortly before 12 p.m. on Saturday, officers responded to the 1300 block of Pine Bluff Street to assist Paris Emergency Services.
Police had received information that the infants father had intentionally given the infant gasoline to drink.
Officers observed the named suspect, Bridgemon, fleeing the scene on foot. An officer pursued Bridgemon and he was taken into custody in the 1400 block of Pine Bluff.
“Bridgemon admitted to having given the infant gasoline to drink with the intention of ending the child’s life,” said police.
Bridgemon was arrested on scene for Attempted Capital Murder and Evading Arrest.
He was processed, placed in jail and is being held on bonds totaling $255,00.00.
The child was transported by Paris EMS to Paris Regional Medical Center, and later transferred to another facility in the Dallas-Ft Worth area for further care.
The case remains under investigation.
