A man was arrested on Sunday after verbally abusing staff at Whataburger on N Main Street, then returning to assault the manager.
A video circulating on social media shows the manager taking control of the situation, using a trash can in self-defense, and forcing the suspect out of the store.
According to reports, 41-year old Anthony William Newhuis of Spring, Texas, was ordered to leave by the manager after verbally abusing the staff and did so but threatened to return and assault the manager after officers left.
Later, Newhuis returned to the restaurant and assaulted the manager by striking him with his fist multiple times.
The manager recovered and was able to gain control of Newhuis and force him to leave the inside of the store.

“Paris Police and Lamar County Sheriff’s Deputies found the suspect on the back parking lot of the property bleeding from the head.”
After receiving the details of the incident, Newhuis was arrested and charged with Assault resulting in Bodily injury and Public Intoxication.
He was taken to a medical facility for treatment of his injury and then placed in city jail.
While in jail, Newhuis flooded the cells intentionally and was subsequently charged with Criminal Mischief less than $750.00.
He remains in city jail as of the time of this report.
