Leslie Howie, Jr., 90, of Paris, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2026, at Heritage House of Paris.
Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled services for 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 18th at Novice Baptist Church with Dr. Duane Falk and Rev. John Moon officiating. Burial will be made in Springhill Cemetery.
Mr. Howie, the son of Leslie Howie, Sr. and Sophia Ann Miller Howie, was born November 18, 1935, in Sumner, TX. He graduated from Paris High School and began a career at B & W that spanned 40 years before his retirement. Leslie proudly served our country in the Army National Guard. He had served on the school board of North Lamar ISD, was a member of the Masonic Lodge and was a member of Novice Baptist Church where he had led singing. He enjoyed working with children and coached several sports. He was known as an all-around cowboy, was a successful calf roper, team roper and a founding member of the Paris Rodeo and Horse Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Helen Thrasher and Robbie Melton.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Howie, whom he married on Jan. 4, 1974, building 52 years of family and memories, children, Leslie Paul Howie and wife Rhonda, Melissa Neal and husband Billy, Melanie Shults and husband Brent, Brian Howie and wife Andi, and Pamela Long, grandchildren, Lesslie Bull and husband Wesley, Corey Howie and wife Taylor, Cheryl Fields and husband Chase, Trey Neal and fiancé Brooke, Sarah Burkhalter and husband Dusty, Jordan Shults and wife Madison, Katie Isom and husband Lane, Kinley Howie, Drake Howie, Tyce Howie, Meredith Bartholomew, Quinn Sessums and wife Tien, Beth Long, and Jake Long. Great grandchildren, Eli Bull, Brooklyn Bull, Wyatt Bull, Ellie Bull, Cap Howie, Murphy Howie, Leslie “Dub” Howie, Tripp Burkhalter, Tagg Burkhalter, Tylee Burkhalter, Nik Neal, Dawson Ingram, Braxton Shults, Ben Shults, Bo Isom, Banks Isom, Hailey Bartholomew, Lindsay Bartholomew, Kai Sessums, Maya Sessums, Winston Sessums, Isaac Sessums, and Campbell Long along with several nieces and nephews and a plethora of friends.
Casket bearers will be: Trey Neal, Quinn Sessums, Jordan Shults, Corey Howie, Drake Howie, Tyce Howie, and Jake Long. Honorary casket bearers will be: Willis Monroe, Charlie Beville, Scott McCloure, and Boo Fontenot.
