The Lamar County Sheriffs Office has been made aware of a phone scam in which the caller claims to be Captain Tommy Moore wanting to discuss an on-going civil matter.
“This is a scam and the number the caller provides is not a number associated with the Sheriff’s Office,” said LCSO.
According to LCSO, the caller claims to be Captain Tommy Moore of the Lamar County Sheriff’s Departments warrants and citation division.
The caller advises he is calling to speak with you in regards to an ongoing civil matter, that the matter is urgent and requires your immediate attention and to call back as soon as possible on the “non-emergency number of 903-741-7307 extension 4.”
“We will not call you about a warrant or citation. Please be careful and not provide anyone with your personal information. Please share this with your elderly family members, friends and those without social media. Don’t fall victim to scammers.”
